Detailed Description

I was first introduced to Fortune when a friend set up what was to
become my first Linux server. (It was a really old distribution of
Slackware.) To amuse himself he set the login process to print an
adage which was usually funny or interesting. The program he used to
do this was Fortune.

Fortune comes with many of the flavors of free Unix-like operating
systems. The program simply picks a random string out of a set of text
files and displays it. Frankly, I love Fortune. Perhaps it's
indicative of my mental state, but I could waste hours reading
Fortune's fortunes.

To celebrate Fortune, I took it on myself to write a Web Service
version in ColdFusion. It works quite similarly to the traditional
executable version. (Email me if you want the source code. It's freely
available. I just havent packaged it yet.)
